About the Gar Chöding Trust
The Gar Chöding Trust is named after the renowned 12th-century Buddhist mahāsiddha from Eastern Tibet, Gar Dampa Chödingpa. As a heart disciple of the Protector, Guardian of the Three Worlds (Tibetan: Kyobpa Jigten Sumgön), Gar Chödingpa gathered numerous disciples and extensively propagated the teachings of the Drigung Kagyü Lineage.
Having manifest in myriad ways throughout the continuum of his lifetimes, Gar Chödingpa is currently known as the Lord of Refuge, the Precious Emanation who Holds the Garchen Throne (Tibetan: Kyabjé Garchen Triptrül Rinpoché), born in Eastern Tibet in the late 1930s. In his present manifestation, Garchen Rinpoché has lovingly and impartially entrusted disciples from around the world with empowerments, transmission and instructions in Drigung Kagyü (including Drigung terma) and Nyingma practice traditions.
To preserve the lineage teachings that constitute this rich inheritance, the Gar Chöding Trust was established by the American disciple Ari-ma in 2004. The purpose of the website is to support, through original English translations and diverse media, the understanding and spiritual practice of Buddhists in general and of Garchen Rinpoché's followers in particular.
As the website is currently being developed, it will evolve over the coming months and years. To contact us, please email to admin@gartrust.org.
